Kate Middleton's Portrait

Everyone's favorite princess made headlines when her first official portrait was released by London's National Portrait Gallery.  While the artist, Paul Emsley, is undoubtedly talented, Kate Middleton is looking a little... worn out, to say the least.  Apparently Kate worked very closely with Emsley to create a "natural look."  Don't get me wrong: I love Kate Middleton as much as the next person, but this portrait doesn't do her proper justice.

What are your thoughts on the painting?

  1. Hi Ani!

I noticed your a new follower on my site so I stopped by to look at Catch-21 and can I say, your blog is ADORABLE! Im following! I'm new to the blogosphere, too. :]

This is an absolutely terrible portrait of Kate! What were they thinking, giving Kate a "natural" look...does she naturally look like a ghost? lol

    Have a great weekend, Darling!

  2. I completely agree! You would think she is like 40 from this portrait. It definitely isn't natural if it aged her so.

  3. Oh wow, why does she look so old? And she has such a beautiful smile when she smiles with her teeth - this closed lipped smile just makes her look tired. She has so much life, where'd it go?!

  4. I think they are trying to portray maturity and they aged her face so the portrait can be used many years from now as well. Thanks for posting this!

  5. I think it makes her look a tad bit older, but it's a lovely painting.

  6. I totally agree with you! I think she still looks beautiful, but it certainly doesn't do her justice.
